but a ninjas close combat style is for swift, brutal killing, the monks is defensive, and I feel ninja's would be prepared for the monks flash, they've seen samurai and other ninja, i dont think the monk would surprise them too much, but the monk isnt used to dealing with an equally specialized killer

like i said, depends on the monk......first off most monks wont think twice about killing you, they are peaceful most of the times but if you attack them they switch to battle mode. also ninjas and samurais styles contain very little flash plus there weapons are a little more exotic then japanese weapons.

Believe it or not, Ninja's were NOT super awesome close combat fighters, If it came down to a 1 on 1 with say, a Samurai, with the element of surprise gone, the Ninja would get owned. Ninja's spent all their time training in stealth, subterfuge, assassination, and other such skills. Yes they trained in swordsmanship and the like, but never enough to be 'amazing' in close combat. I'd have to give it to the monk, since close combat is what they do. Unless the Ninja gets him in the first shot or at ranged with Shuriken, then the Monk is gonna win.

plus with Japan being an Iron-poor nation they NEVER carried swords...plus they wore dark blue to hide themselves in the night, not black.

well actually hutch they were extremely capable of disarming a samurai which i guess is where it counts, they also fight dirtier then samurai. but fighting like with honor isnt a monk thing. and before any of you say other wise i have a friend who is currently training with the monks in china. i mean god damn dim mak has no honor.

I think you're right matt, I beleive the monk could win alot, but I think ninja employing medium range weapons, darts, black eggs, and shuriken could win because the monk has no answer, and no one can fight with eyes full of glass powder. But i agree the monk is the better hand to hand fighter in the end

so were at an agreement. monk wins unless ninja hits him at long medium range.....also what is the range for medium range....like in ft?

20 ft - 5 ft for long.medium range. the trick at five feet, is that a dart shuriken, or other weapon like a chain and kama moves too fast to be blocked if thrown right (and we're assuming they do what they were trained to do correct)

hmmm yes, the only thing the monk can really do at that range is either hope to dodge or close the distance this is a cool video the monks did for my martial arts school when i use to train with ussd. it shows the flash i was talking about.....someone post something for ninja

thats really impressive, but after watching some video demonstrations of both shaolin and ninja masters (Masaaki Hatsumi is a boss!) im starting to reconsider my stance. Im seeing alittle too much flash from the shaolin, and yes, their endurance and technique is undeniable, they are really increadible, I'm seeing too many of the Ninja's moves that are so simple, and they completely dissrupt the momentum and balance of the enemy, and they are coupled with such perfect balance and ability to leap away at any moment, the ninja would be able, I think, to keep evading till that perfect moment where he catches the shaolin, and the ninja would dissrupt him, put him on his back, and kill him too quickly. after watching both, I think the Ninja would get into a chess game with the shaolin, and the shaolins superiororities would actually help the Ninja trap him. that and weapons like shuriken and black eggs is actually tipping the scale for me in favor of ninja, but still, it would be close, and i still see the shaolin winning pleanty

i still dont see it.... the ninjas moves are based around fighting samurai as you can see clearly form the first video. also way to many front punches which monks rarely throw. yes while the ninjas techniques are simple and effective the monks techniques are so complex that the training and body strentgh you would need to pull it off are insane. they can twist there bodies in so many places that most of those ninja techniques really wouldnt matter. because there based on to counter japanese movements like karate, which is very simple and while it does generate alot of power i feel that its to slow compared to the monks. anyway next step we simulate the battle. list your warrior with his equipment and we will set up a scenario and have a vote....also list what the weapon or equipment is.

you also have to remember, when you practise a scripted set of moves, you can do it as fast as your body will allow, because you already know where and how you are gonig to move. In an unscripted fight, things will move alot slower, or else mistakes will be made
